Brands to bloggers and Giveaway - The Shops at Riverwoods

So sometimes I wish I lived a little teensy bit closer to Provo, there is just some cool stuff in Provo, like The Shops at Riverwoods. Seriously, I would go over there all the time.

Veronica from Local Community Hotspots invited me to attend a great blogger event with a whole bunch of awesome gals.

We began our adventure at Blickenstaffs a fun candy and toy store.

They have a lot of today's popular toys and candy as well as a ton of vintage ones. This awesome store will definitely bring back fun memories of your childhood. They even have a lot of the vintage candy listed by decade so you know when it was popular. Just look at these photos and you will see the fun atmosphere.

When you go check it out take your kids, they will love trying out the toys, riding the big rocking horse, and begging you to buy them lots of candy:-)

We stopped for lunch at Malawi's pizza. Let me just tell you it is fantastic!

You may notice in the above picture it says pizza with a purpose...well, for every meal they sell at Malawi's they provide a meal for orphans in Malawi Africa. How cool is that?

On to the food...it is seriously good, like holy cow I ate waaaaayyyyy too much good. My favorite pizza is the spinach and artichoke one, yum. The crust on these pizzas are thin and not too crunchy, it is awesome crust, trust me! Or don't, go find out for yourself, you will not be disappointed. Don't forget to get dessert while you are there. I will just show you a pic and let it speak for itself...

This is a peanut butter s'more dessert pizza, yummy! Definitely not on my LGN diet. (don't know what LGN diet is? Well I might share that in the future). It is in the works that Malawi's is going to open up a place in Davis county in the hopefully near future, my husband and I are definitely going to make it a date night regular.

After you go eat at Malawi's at The Shops at Riverwoods walk on over to Provo Beach Resort where you can work off a few of those dessert calories.

This place is fun for all ages. Here is a list of some of the things they offer
~ arcade
~ bowling
~ miniature croquet
~ ropes course (it is two stories)

~ golf simulator
~ toddler play area
~ a Flowrider which is very entertaining to watch (especially all the wipeouts).

~ and a carousel, yeah we rode it, wahoo!

They even have a spa where you can get a quick brow wax, manicure, pedicure etc.

I really want to make this a destination soon for my family, they will have such a great time.

Doesn't the flowrider look awesome? What if you want to try it out but don't have a suit, well never fear, there is a really cool shop attached to theProvo Beach Resort that has awesome swimwear. The stores name is....Called To Surf. Very appropriate for Provo don't you think?

Called to Surf has great swimwear year round, so when you get the itchin to go somewhere warm during the winter and don't have what you need to have fun in the sun, they have you covered. Literally, ha. They have tons of modest swimsuits, as well as a few bikinis thrown in here and there.

Have kids? Well they have that covered too. And don't forget dad, they carry more board shorts than I have seen in one place. Need shoes? They have those as well. Called to Surf has some items that are made exclusively for their store, including some great lifestyle shoes and swimsuits.

See those cool watches up in that photo, They gave us each one, I really like it for running(if you can call it that, I am so out of shape) because it's light weight and stays put.

Called to Surf gave me this fabulous bag to giveaway to one of my readers...Cute right?

Thanks sis for being my model!

Rosette Frame-tutorial

I am prone to starting projects, but I never get to the finish line with them, pretty much all of them.  Well this time I was determined to finish.

Lets just say that I have a three month old baby, and no pictures of my beautiful girl anywhere.  Here is what I did to fix that little problem….

DSC05367

Cute right? It was a little time consuming but worth it to me.  Here is how to make your own.

Supplies needed:

DSC05355

  • Any frame you want to transform (mine is an unfinished one from the craft store)
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Sheets of felt (I used five on this frame. frame dimensions are about the size of a sheet of paper and the hole for the picture is a 4X6)

The felt is not expensive so make sure you buy enough of the color you need so you don’t have to make a dang fun trip back to the store for one more…..not that I had to do that or anything…lol.

Tip:  paint the edges of the frame, or cover them in the same color as the felt…do that also to the front of the frame edges.  you will see that I had to piece mine together.  I was too excited to get the rosettes on that I really didn’t think about the edges.  I learned and will do that first next time.

After prepping your frame cut out the strips for the rosettes

DSC05356

I folded the piece of felt in half, then half again. (like a Hamburger not a Hot dog.  That is how my elementary teacher would have explained it.)

DSC05357DSC05358

Starting at one end start cutting a wavy strip off the end.  One side of the strip will be wavy and the other straight.

DSC05359

Next cut a straight line, it will then look like the first strip.  continue cutting the strips off the end till you have used up the whole piece of felt.  After you have cut up all the felt we will start making the rosettes.

DSC05360

Roll up the wavy strips of felt as shown above.  This is the part that seems to take forever.  The great part about using felt is that it sticks to itself and your rosette will stayed rolled up, you can just set it aside or start putting them on your frame. see…..

The best part is gluing the rosettes on, I love seeing it come together.  And here is the final product.  I embellished it with a scrapbook flower to give it a little color.

I love the texture the rosettes give to the frame, doesn’t it just look precious for my sweetie?  It is super easy, you should make one for yourself.  If you do I would love to see your take on it.  Have a wonderful day.
